Tutorial: Making and Sending a Screenshot Image

Finding the Screenshot Button

Print Screen, The Screenshot ButtonAlright, so first things first. Where is the "screenshot button"? Well, The picture to the right is where it is located on most keyboards (mine's a Dell). The name Print Screen SysRq may differ on your keyboard, chances are it is the right key if it is in the location and has Print in the name.

When you have the highscore of the game somewhere on the screen (the window is not minimised), push the screenshot button once, nothing will happen, at least nothing you know of. What the button accutually does is just save the image temporarily on your computer, each time you push the screenshot button it overwrite's the last time. In a nutshell, there is no secret folder on your computer of all the screenshots you've taken.

Now it's time to get the screenshot picture you took and put it into some kind of image editor. This can easily be done by opening MS Paint (the crappy, but fun program that's came with your windows computer for years), Adobe Photoshop, or Jasc Paintshop Pro. Simply edit - paste (or CTRL+V for those of you that memorize shortcuts). Save it as a JPEG file somewhere in your My Documents folder (or a place you will remember it).

And that's it, making and saving a screenshot picture in 3 EZ steps. Skip the next lesson if you know how to e-mail pictures...

Sending the Screenshot Image through E-mail

Now that you have completed the first step Finding the Screenshot Button, it's time to send me the screenshot of your highscore. I can only explain how to do this using Outlook Express and Yahoo! Mail, as those are the two programs I use.

Screenshot of Yahoo! Mail Add Attachment featureUsing Yahoo! Mail or other Webmail.
When you compose/write a new message find the button that says "Add Attachment" or something along those lines and click the button that says "Browse" (or something like that) and find the image you just saved in the lesson above, then e-mail it to me.

Screenshot of Outlook Express Add Picture featureUsing Outlook Express.
When you write ("Create Mail") a new message go to the taskbar at the top and go to Insert - Picture and click the button that says "Browse" and find the image you just saved in the lesson above -- click ok, then e-mail it to me.

If any of this is unclear or has a mistake contact me.
